Lately, I can honestly say that things are good for me. As I’ll explain in another post, I changed and that change has made me immensely happy. The past couple of weeks, I have had the opportunity to do some subbing of Spinning® classes at my gym. So far I have done two of them and each time I teach, it is just more and more awesome.
The first time I taught a Spinning® class, it was pretty frightening at first, but then it turned out quite well. To say I enjoy throwing myself to the wolves is probably an understatement. That first class was a very last-minute subbing thing and it was at the club that I’ve heard from many people has a “special” personality when it comes to the Spinning® classes.
My first hiccup in that class began when I couldn’t figure out how to get the fans on full speed. This annoyed one of the members quite dearly, but he managed to get them turned up. That was good since this particular studio tends to get hot really fast.
There were quite a few people in there and I’m pretty sure I was making faces while on stage. I didn’t mean to, but sometimes when I am thinking too much, I might do that because of what I am thinking about. Hopefully no one noticed. But, I did realize that it is something for me to work on because it happens more so than when I am talking. And talking too much is something I have to be sure not to do since it was something I did during my audition last month.
Anyway, after that first class, one member came up to say thanks and another told me I had great music. Both of those comments more than made up for the evil glares I got from the one member about the fans. Overall, it went well and I was exhausted, yet happy after I was done teaching it.
My second class was super fun. It turned out that ride was a lot harder than I thought it was. It was an interval ride and a good one to do if you’ve been indulging too much during the holiday season and want to burn off some of those extra calories. The members in this class (different club) were so amazing. They stuck with me during this intense ride and they had great energy. So much so that I felt their energy for hours afterward because they were so fun.
I’ve only done a couple of classes, but I cannot wait to do more of them. It is so much fun to sweat and see other members sweating to something that I put together. Knowing that they are sticking with me and I with them to achieve whatever goals we have is just amazing. Not to mention, I am even more anxious to get my own, regular class because there really is nothing quite as exhilarating as working up a good sweat from an activity you thoroughly enjoy.
